The absolute stars of these earrings are the Sicilian Coffees. Known today as highly fashionable accessories, especially because they have been revisited by the most famous fashion designers, their origin actually dates back to the ancient Sicilian peasant tradition. In fact, they were born as very simple straw baskets (the leaves of the dwarf palm tree were needed to make them), which were attached to the neck of the donkey or horse and were used to hold food and provisions for the peasants. Today, coffees are still made on a straw base, but are adorned and embellished with pom poms, tassels, mirrors and all sorts of fabrics. Having made this brief introduction, which I felt was a must in order to know the true origins of our jewellery, I will explain how these earrings are made.
